Print, Heat Transfer & Embroidery
We collaborate with a diverse network of suppliers, offering a wide range of printing, heat transfer, and embroidery techniques.
Digital Print
Digital printing is an inkjet-based method that prints directly onto fabric.
The advantage of digital printing is its ability to reproduce almost any design on a wide variety of fabrics. It delivers high-resolution images, fine details, and an unlimited range of colors, making it a cost-effective option for printing.
For artworks featuring more than four colors, we use digital printing as our default method.

Dye Sublimation
Dye sublimation is a process where dye pigments are printed onto a transfer medium and then applied to fabric or garments using heat and pressure.
This method allows the inks to fully penetrate the fabric, creating a permanent, full-color image with no hand feel. Dye sublimation prints can produce high-quality, full-color, photographic results that are resistant to scratching and cracking.
We use dye sublimation as the default printing method for polyester fabrics, as it ensures vibrant, long-lasting prints.

Screen Print
Screen printing, as the name suggests, uses screens as stencils to apply layers of ink onto the printing surface.
It is the most cost-effective method for producing high-quality artwork on garments in bulk. Screen prints are extremely durable and maintain their quality even after numerous washes.
However, each screen can only apply one color at a time, making screen printing less cost-efficient for designs with more than four colors due to the high setup costs involved in creating multiple screens.
At Gopherwood, we offer several types of screen printing, including water-based ink and plastisol-based ink. Scroll further for more details.

Water-Based Ink Screen Print
Water-based inks screen printing is our default method for printing on light-colored fabrics.
These inks are made with pigments embedded in a water-based solvent, making this an eco-friendly printing option. Water-based ink screen prints provide an ultra-soft hand feel, as the inks are absorbed directly into the fabric, resulting in a smooth, lightweight finish.

Plastisol-Based Ink Screen Print
Plastisol-based inks screen printing is our default method for printing on dark-colored fabrics.
These inks are PVC-based and require high temperatures to cure and set. Plastisol inks provide long-lasting, vibrant color results and can be easily matched to Pantone or PMS colors.
Unlike water-based inks, plastisol inks form a thin film on the fabric, giving the print a thicker feel that can be felt by hand. This makes plastisol ideal for achieving bold, durable prints on darker fabrics.

Foam Print
Foamed printing is a specialized technique that creates a textured, three-dimensional effect on fabric. This method involves applying a foaming agent to the ink, which expands during the curing process, resulting in a raised surface that enhances the visual and tactile appeal of the design.

Flock Print
Flocking printing is a technique that involves applying a layer of fine fibers to create a soft, velvety texture on fabric. This process uses an adhesive to secure the fibers in place, resulting in a luxurious feel and a visually striking appearance.

Heat Transfer Print
Heat transfer prints use plastisol inks that are first printed onto transfer paper or vinyl, then applied to a garment using heat and pressure.
Since plastisol inks are used in the process, heat transfers leave a thin layer on the fabric that can be felt by hand.
